As a company we care a great deal about our environment and the sustainability of our core material, wood. This is demonstrated in a number of ways.
- Our Directors and staff are actively involved with a number of organisations such as the BWF (British Woodworking Federation) and TRADA (Timber Research and Development Association) to promote timber as a sustainable building material; we regularly attend seminars and conferences to expand our knowledge in this important area.
- We have invested considerable capital costs in our factory to install a 'Bio-Mass' wood waste burner. This enables all the 'wood chip' waste produced in our manufacturing process to be extracted and fed automatically into the burner to heat our factory. This gives considerable financial and environmental savings by avoiding waste going to landfill and at the same time providing a substitute for fossil fuels. It has the added bonus of giving a clean and healthy working environment for our staff.
- We are making considerable efforts to ensure that most of the timber we use is obtained from well managed forests with, where possible 'chain of custody' certification from bodies such as FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) and PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) .
