What is timber certification ?
About 150 million hectares of forest worldwide is now certified by several organisations. The most respected of these are the Forest Stewardship Council ( FSC) and the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC).
Timber from these schemes is eligible for all contracts under the UK Public Timber Procurement Policy and will receive preferred status in UK public tendering processes.
Forest certification is the process of evaluating forests or woodlands to determine if they are being managed according to an agreed set of standards.
